PHOTOS: Budapest Halloween Lantern Festival on Heroes’ Square
The festival was organised yesterday evening in Budapest’s illustrious Heroes’ Square. The charity and free event has been organised for more than ten years. Partakers were asked to bring some non-perishable food that the organisers collected and handed out to families in need.
The festival started at 7 PM, and people could admire some cool Hungarian carved pumpkins. The non-perishable food collected was given to the Hungarian Gyermekétkeztetési Alapítvány (Feed the Children Foundation). They will distribute it to families in need, szmo.hu wrote.
Many arrived in creative costumes or wearing face-painting to create a Halloween atmosphere in the heart of Budapest. Halloween is not a traditional Hungarian festivity, but it has become popular recently.
